Satureja

The chess or swabs (Satureja spp.) Are a genus of about 30 species of herbs and shrubs of the family Lamiaceae, native Delas northern temperate regions. Several species of savory herbs are used as in gastronomy, in Spain are often used to marinate olives.

Description

The chess are annual or perennial, low elevation, with opposite leaves, ovate to lanceolate, 1-3 cm long.

They produce clusters of flowers axillary, white to violet, not unattractive, so occasionally they are used as ornamental flower between August and September in the northern hemisphere.

The plant prefers dry, sandy, well drained, and require lots of sun.
